According to media reports, seven suppliers will participate in the next stage of the proceeding for the purchase of "high-mobility armored trucks". The "Armored" Mustang is another part of the program aimed at replacing old Honker cars in the Polish Army.
The military wants the new armored vehicles to weigh no more than 5 tons and to accommodate a driver, five passengers and 600 kilograms of cargo. The new vehicles must have an all-wheel drive (optionally a rear-wheel drive with and additional, selectable front-wheel drive) and level 1 armor, according to the STANAG 4569 standard. The clearance for the Armored Mustangs should be at least 22 cm and they must be able to overcome water obstacles at least 50 cm deep.
The army plans to purchase 41 Armored Mustangs (22 confirmed and 19 optional).
The seven revealed suppliers are divided into four consortia: The first consists of Glomex MS Polska Sp. z o.o. and Glomex MS s.r.o, second from H. Cegielski-Poznań S.A. and Arquus SAS, the third is PHO Sp. z o.o. and Concept Sp. z o.o., and the fourth is Rosomak S.A., Auto Podlasie Sp. z o.o. and UPBW Bartłomiej Woźniak.
