The Red River Ultralight R10 model is a rifle chambered for the 7.62 x 51 mm round but weighing only 2.6 kg. The secret to the low weight of this model is the extensive use of magnesium alloys instead of the popular aluminum. According to the manufacturer, the material offers the same strength with a weight reduction of 1/3. Parts made of magnesium alloy include, among others, the upper and lower receiver and the handguard.
There are currently six R-10 DPMS/SR25 models available. They are sold together with the 10-round Magpul magazines, KynSHOT return mechanisms, Radian Raptor charging handles, Hogue pistol grips and Mission First Tactical Minimalist stocks.
All variants are available in black or Coyote Brown applied with the Cerakote thermoset paint. Trigger mechanisms from which you can choose are the ATC AR Gold or the JMT Saber. Some of the R-10 models are offered with the PROOF Research barrels characterized by low weight and high stiffness due to the use of a carbon fiber sleeve. In turn, versions with classic barrels are equipped with adjustable gas blocks.
All R-10 rifles came with M-Lok handguards and have no muzzle devices. Their lengths depending on the model and these are 16, 20, 22 and 24 inches. The rifles can be chambered for the .308 Winchester and the 6.5 Creedmoor rounds. Prices range from 2550 to 3650 USD.
