Seekens Precision offers a new a sniper rifle based on the AR-15 design that uses ammunition made so far only by Hornady. Until now, the DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle) model was only available with a .223 Wylde chamber, i.e. an intermediate between the civilian .223 Remington and the military, 5.56 x 45 mm. Instead of 16 and 18-inch barrels as usual, the DMR will use a 22-inch stainless steel 416R barrel with 5R rifling with a twist rate of 1: 8, giving the 6 mm bullet more time to travel through. It will end with the Seekins ATC four-chamber muzzle brake made from the same material.
The SP3Rv3 handgaurd is a free floating aircraft grade aluminum black anodized part and is quipped with M-Lok standard ports. In the front and rear on both sides there are also ports for attaching a QD swivels for a carrying sling. M-Lok ports are arranged in three planes, and on the top there is a Picatinny rail extending the section found on the upper receiver. The lower part of the handguard has been flattened, unlike most elements of this type, which have an octagonal shape. This procedure allows the weapon to be placed slightly lower on a bipod.
Next there is the IRMT-3 upper receiver and the SP223 lower receiver, milled from 7075-T6 aluminum alloy according to the proprietary design of Seekins Precision. The eye-catching magazine well and an enlarged, perforated trigger guard are clearly visible. The manipulators in the form of a safety\selector switch, a bolt-catch and a magazine release button are all double sided. On request, the receivers can be supplied in in six colors. The trigger mechanism chosen by the designers is a 1.5-kilogram single-stage Timney.
The X10-Ray stock is also a Seekins Precision internal design. In its front part there are QD ports for mounting swivels for a carrying sling. The cheek pad height is adjustable and a mount for a monopod is placed under stock. Unfortunately, the length of the stock and the position of the butt plate are not adjustable.
About 12 models powered by the 6 mm ammunition have been created so far. San Tan Tactical, Proof Research, CMMG, CMC, Brownells, Ballistic Advantage and Faxon Firearms provided their support for the new caliber offered by Hornady.
