In 2023, Rossi makes a big comeback to the .30-30 caliber wooden stock firearms market with the new R95 in 16.5-inch carbine and 20-inch rifle versions.

Rossi has long been operates in the semi-automatic pistol industry, has made the R92 model, a great copy of the classic Winchester 1892, and revolver in many calibers, as well as rimfire weapons. Now the Taurus subsidiary is re-entering the .30-30 market with the R95 model.

Rossi R95The 16.5-inch carbine, which has an overall length of 35.5 inches, has an enlarged lever handle, while the longer 20-inch the inch version has a more traditional handle.

 

The R95 series comes standard with a 1:12 RH rifled cold forged barrel (16.5 or 20 inch variants), a hand-finished lever, a large side loading port, and 5+1 tubular magazine under the barrel. As for the sights and optics, the receiver of the weapon is drilled and threaded according to the user's choice of optics, and the horizontally adjustable front sight and the buckhorn rear sight come as standard.

Rossi R95Both the receiver and barrel are made of a steel alloy with a black oxide finish. The 20-inch model weighs 3.1 kg, while the shorter 16.5-inch model is only slightly lighter. The standard equipment of the weapon is a cross-bolt safety, located under the thumb, a fairly thick rubber pad on the stock and carrying sling loops.

 

Brazilian hardwood stock and handguard have a walnut finish and are described by the manufacturer as "compatible with handguards and rails from other manufacturers producing accessories for lever action weapons.

The new Rossi R95 has a suggested retail price of $949 regardless of the model. However, compared to the price of $1,239 for a new Ruger Marlin 336 Classic, Rossi's price seems relatively attractive.
