The Taiwan Armed Forces informed the press about the introduction of a new rifle design into mass production. The T112 carbine is intended to replace the already known T91 design, the airsoft replicas of which are produced by companies such as G&G Armament and Vega Force Company. The new design retains some elements from its predecessor, such as the general similarity to the AR-15, the short stroke piston system and the 4-position safety/selector switch. A 2-shot burst was used instead of a 3-shot one, the muzzle device was redesigned and the transport handle was abandoned in favor of a top rail for mounting optics.
The rifle can be equipped with a whole range of accessories, from laser sights, through red dot sights, flashlights and scopes. The remaining changes go towards the common standard and include a new handguard in the M-LOK system, a new pistol grip, a 5-position stock and polymer magazines instead of aluminum ones.
The T112 is also the name of a newly designed bolt-action rifle. The design is chambered in 12.7x108mm round.
