At the end of August, Heckler&Koch and Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) have announced the signing of a contract for another firearm design for special forces. It is the HK G210 (MR308A6) 7.62x51 mm rifle derived from the MR308. The new design is meant to facilitate high mobility and high accuracy at short ranges. It also includes solutions that depart from the traditional ones.
The rifle is equipped with a handguard with a possibility of quick disassembly of handguard the bed and the barrel. In order to shorten the ergonomics and facilitate operating it in tight spaces, the classic charging handle at the rear was omitted and a lever is used on its left side. The rifle is completed by a 410 mm long barrel, a 3-position gas regulator and a magazine well in the SR25/M110 standard.
