Magne-Tech is an American company based in Utah, founded in 2020 and focused on developing magnetic mounting systems for firearms and equipment. Instead of conventional solutions, the company combines neodymium magnets with mechanical locking mechanisms, making it possible to quickly attach and detach accessories without the need for tools.
The company was founded by Joel Jacobson, a former F-16 structural engineer in the US Air Force. According to Magne-Tech, the inspiration for developing a magnetic mounting system came from the difficulties associated with mounting and removing various accessories from a rifle using conventional mounting hardware and tools. The company wanted to develop a more modular way of mounting optics and accessories that could withstand recoil while also allowing them to retain their zero after being reattached.
One of the company's most interesting products is the Magnetic Scope Mount Set for riflescopes. The system consists of a ring attached to the scope tube and a three-magnet receiver designed to mount onto a Picatinny rail. The two components connect magnetically, while the design is complemented by a mechanical locking system, meaning that keeping the scope securely in place does not rely solely on magnetic force. The mount was developed primarily for quickly detaching and reattaching a scope while retaining its settings, including zero. Magne-Tech claims that the optic can return to within 0.25 MOA of zero after being reattached. The mount is machined from solid 7075-T6 aluminum and features a Type III anodized finish compliant with MIL-A-8625. The three-magnet receiver weighs approximately 150 g, the ring approximately 184 g, and the complete set approximately 337 g. Versions are available for scopes with 1-inch, 30 mm and 34 mm tube diameters.
The Magne-Tech lineup is not limited to scope mounts, however. The company also offers, among other products, the 3-Magnet Picatinny Rail Mount, as well as solutions designed for M-LOK rails. The catalog also includes female accessory mounts for Picatinny rails, flashlight mounts and components designed for the MOLLE system.
The company's lighting products include the Rigel II-P flashlight with a Picatinny rail mount and the Rigel II-M for M-LOK, as well as a standalone magnetic flashlight mount. The company also offers three-inch and six-inch magnetic Picatinny mounts for accessories.
Magne-Tech emphasizes that its systems are designed for use in conditions where they may be exposed to heavy recoil and impacts. The company also states that the system underwent three years of testing for wear and durability, with more than 3,000 tests carried out as part of the evaluation.
