MDT Sporting Goods has previously been associated primarily with high-end stocks for precision rifles, as well as magazines, bipods, and shooting accessories. In February 2026, the company announced the acquisition of the US-based companies Lone Peak Arms and Leading Edge Machine, both headquartered in Utah. The former has been developing bolt-action systems since 2014, while the latter specializes in manufacturing them using CNC machinery. According to the announcement, both companies will continue operating with their existing teams while benefiting from MDT’s resources and distribution network.
MDT has added the Fuzion, Fuzion Ti, and Razor bolt-action systems to its own catalog. This marks the company’s first entry into the bolt-action rifle systems market. However, these are not newly developed systems, but previously known designs from Lone Peak Arms. Sales through the MDT website began on August 7, 2026. Each system includes an action, bolt, trigger mechanism retaining pins, and the components required for installation.
All three models use the Remington 700 footprint, providing access to a wide range of compatible stocks, trigger mechanisms, and bottom metal assemblies. The manufacturer also states that precision pre-fit barrels can be used. A common feature is a one-piece, longitudinally fluted bolt body made from 4340 chrome-moly steel and treated with a nitriding process. The fluting reduces weight, while the surface treatment is intended to increase resistance to wear and corrosion. A Mini M16-type extractor is used. The systems also feature lightweight firing pin assemblies designed to reduce lock time, or the interval between trigger release and primer ignition.
The standard bolt lift angle is 75 degrees. This reduces the travel of the bolt handle and provides more clearance beneath a mounted scope than designs with a 90-degree lift. The exception is the Fuzion with a .338 Lapua Magnum bolt face, which uses a 90-degree bolt lift. MDT also offers components designed for these systems, including complete bolts, firing pins, extractors, and ejectors.
The Fuzion is the steel variant aimed primarily at competition shooters. Its action is made from pre-hardened 416R stainless steel and is nitrided as standard, while the bolt raceways are machined using electrical discharge machining. An integral Picatinny rail with a 20 MOA cant is incorporated into the top of the action. The design also features a side-mounted bolt release that facilitates bolt removal. An Alpine Port version is available, in which the rail is split above the ejection port to reduce weight. The model is offered in both Short Action and Long Action configurations. Short-action variants are available with .223, .308, or Magnum bolt faces, while long-action versions are offered in .308, Magnum, and .338 Lapua Magnum configurations. Both right- and left-handed Short Action versions with a .308 bolt face are available. The short action features a cutout for AW magazines, while the long action has a BDL magazine cutout. The .338 Lapua Magnum version features a cutout for an extended Wyatt magazine. The Short Action version weighs approximately 964 g, the Long Action approximately 1,077 g, the Long Action Alpine approximately 850 g, and the .338 Lapua Magnum version approximately 1,106 g.
The Fuzion Ti was developed for lightweight hunting rifles. Its action is made from 6Al-4V titanium alloy and coated with DLC, which is intended to reduce friction and surface wear. The integral Picatinny rail with a 20 MOA cant is split by the Alpine Port cutout. The Short Action weighs approximately 595 g, while the Long Action weighs approximately 624 g, making both significantly lighter than the steel Fuzion. The right-handed Fuzion Ti is available in Short Action or Long Action configurations with a .308 or Magnum bolt face. The left-handed version is offered in a Long Action Magnum configuration. All variants feature a 75-degree bolt lift and a BDL magazine cutout. This allows the use of an internal magazine with a hinged floorplate or, when paired with the appropriate bottom metal assembly, a detachable magazine in the AICS standard.
The Razor, meanwhile, is a more affordable alternative to the Fuzion, offering greater flexibility in configuring the optic mounting system. Its action is made from pre-hardened 416R stainless steel, but the rail is not an integral part of the action. An interface using locating pins and screws allows the installation of a full-length aluminum or steel rail, two short rail sections, or compatible rings mounted directly to the action. These components are selected separately depending on the planned rifle configuration. The Razor is available as a Short Action with a .308 bolt face and as a Long Action Magnum. Both variants feature a 75-degree bolt lift, a Wyatt BDL magazine cutout, and bolt raceways machined using electrical discharge machining. The shorter variant weighs approximately 737 g, while the longer one weighs approximately 822 g.
The addition of Lone Peak Arms systems expands MDT’s product range with one of the core components of a bolt-action rifle. The company can now provide not only stocks, accessories, and other components, but also the action itself and dedicated replacement parts.
