Vortex Optics has introduced new variants of two of its riflescopes and red dot sights. The Venom Enclosed Micro is now available with a green dot reticle, while the Razor HD Gen III 6-36×56 FFP riflescope is now offered with the new VMR-5 reticle.

The first new product is the Venom Enclosed Micro Green Dot, which is the counterpart to the previously available red-dot version. It features a green 3 MOA aiming dot. For some users, the green color may be easier to pick out against certain backgrounds or under changing lighting conditions. The sight itself retains the basic design of the other Venom Enclosed Micro models.

The sight features a 6061 aluminum enclosed housing that protects the emitter from water, dust, mud and other contaminants. It is also equipped with an aspherical lens designed to reduce image distortion. The housing has a matte, low-reflective finish. The manufacturer describes the sight as waterproof and resistant to fogging and shock. Dot brightness is adjusted using buttons located on the top of the housing, with two settings compatible with night vision devices. The Venom Enclosed Micro Green Dot also features motion-activated illumination. When the automatic shutoff function is enabled, the system turns the dot off after approximately 10 minutes of inactivity, helping to conserve battery life. The battery can be replaced through a side compartment, eliminating the need to remove the sight from its mount.

The sight offers 1× magnification and unlimited eye relief. The manufacturer describes the system as virtually parallax-free. Windage and elevation adjustments are made in 1 MOA increments, while one full revolution of the adjustment mechanism corresponds to 40 MOA. The maximum adjustment range is 150 MOA in both elevation and windage. The sight uses the DeltaPoint Pro mounting standard. It is powered by a CR2032 battery, providing up to 20,000 hours of continuous operation at brightness setting 6, according to the manufacturer. The deck height is 10 mm. The sight is approximately 46.7 mm long, 32.3 mm wide and 30.5 mm high. Its weight, including the battery, is approximately 49.6 g. The Venom can be used as a primary pistol sight, as well as mounted at an angle on a rifle or above an LPVO riflescope.

The second new addition to the Vortex Optics lineup is the expansion of the Razor HD Gen III 6-36×56 FFP with the VMR-5 reticle. Until now, the 6-36×56 model was offered with the EBR-7D reticle. Both reticle designs are available with subtensions expressed in minutes of angle or milliradians, resulting in a total of four reticle configurations for this riflescope.

The VMR-5 was developed primarily for PRS competitors and users shooting at long distances. The manufacturer opted for relatively fine subtensions that allow measurements to be taken and corrections to be applied while leaving as much of the observed image unobstructed as possible. This is intended to make it easier to observe the point of impact or a miss and quickly make a correction before the next shot. The reticle is located in the first focal plane, so its apparent size changes with magnification, while the angular values of the subtensions remain unchanged throughout the magnification range.

The basic design of the Razor HD Gen III 6-36×56 FFP remains unchanged. The riflescope offers magnification from 6× to 36×, a 56 mm objective lens and a 34 mm main tube. The field of view is approximately 6.8 m at 100 m at the lowest magnification and approximately 1.2 m at 100 m at the highest magnification. Eye relief is approximately 89 mm, while the parallax adjustment range extends from approximately 9 m to infinity. In the VMR-5 MOA version, each adjustment click corresponds to 1/4 MOA, while one full turret revolution provides 25 MOA of adjustment. The maximum elevation adjustment range is 120 MOA, while windage adjustment is 52.5 MOA. In the VMR-5 MRAD version, each click corresponds to 0.1 MRAD, one full revolution to 10 MRAD, the maximum elevation adjustment range is 36.1 MRAD, and windage adjustment is 15.5 MRAD. The riflescope uses exposed, locking turrets and the L-TEC+ zero-reset system. The design also allows the zero to be precisely set between the nominal adjustment clicks. Reticle illumination is controlled by a locking side turret and offers 10 intensity levels, with off positions between each level.

The optical system uses XR Plus anti-reflective coatings and an APO apochromatic lens system designed to reduce chromatic aberration and improve color rendition. The external lens surfaces are protected by an ArmorTek coating, while the manufacturer also uses the Plasma Tech coating process. The reticle itself is etched into the glass and protected between its layers. The body is made of aircraft-grade aluminum and finished with a matte Stealth Shadow anodized coating. The interior is argon-purged and sealed to protect the riflescope against water and internal fogging. The manufacturer also states that the construction is resistant to recoil and impacts. The Razor HD Gen III 6-36×56 FFP is approximately 389 mm long and weighs approximately 1279 g. Reticle illumination is powered by a CR2032 battery.

Both new additions expand the range of variants available for existing models. The green Venom Enclosed Micro provides an alternative for users who prefer a green aiming dot, while the new VMR-5 reticle offers an additional option when choosing a Razor HD Gen III 6-36×56 FFP riflescope for competitive and long-range shooting. In both cases, the basic design of the devices remains unchanged.
