American company Midwest Industries has expanded its Bounty Hunter accessory lineup with a new mounting rail system, the Bounty Hunter Smith & Wesson Rail System 6″ L Frame. The system is compatible exclusively with Smith & Wesson L Frame revolvers equipped with a six-inch barrel. It allows classic revolvers to be fitted with optical sights and additional accessories, such as tactical lights and laser aiming devices, without requiring permanent modifications to the firearm.

The Bounty Hunter Rail System features a two-piece design consisting of upper and lower components secured together with screws. Both parts are precision-machined from 6061 aluminum, which helps keep the overall weight down while maintaining structural rigidity. The aluminum is hardcoat anodized to improve resistance to wear and corrosion. According to the manufacturer, the system is designed to preserve access to the cylinder and other operating components while minimizing the impact of additional equipment on the revolver's ergonomics.

The system's main feature is a full-length Picatinny rail conforming to the 1913 standard, running above the revolver's frame and barrel. It allows the installation of red dot sights and riflescopes equipped with compatible mounts. The rail's length provides flexibility in positioning the optic to suit the sight used and the shooter's preferences. Appropriately selected optical sights can help shooters acquire targets quickly and aim precisely, including in low-light conditions. The Picatinny rail is complemented by M-LOK mounting slots located at the front of the system. These allow the installation of tactical flashlights, laser aiming devices, and other compatible accessories and adapters.

Midwest Industries emphasizes, however, that the rail system is not intended to serve as a forward grip or barrel shroud. When a revolver is fired, some propellant gases escape through the gap between the cylinder and the rear of the barrel, creating a risk of injury to hands positioned near this area. The manufacturer therefore warns against placing either hand near the cylinder while shooting.

Installation does not require permanent modifications to the firearm, but it does involve removing the factory rear sight. The upper component is secured to the revolver with screws and then joined to the lower section. Additional screws allow the assembly to be centered in relation to the barrel. If the user lacks the necessary experience, the manufacturer recommends seeking the assistance of a gunsmith. Midwest Industries also notes that failure to follow the installation instructions may void the warranty.

The Bounty Hunter accessory lineup also includes the Bounty Hunter Smith & Wesson L/K/G Frame Stock & Arm Brace, a stock assembly available in either a stock or stabilizing brace configuration. It is designed for Smith & Wesson revolvers with L, K, and G frames and a Round Butt grip frame. The assembly is made from hardcoat-anodized 6061 aluminum, with polymer components and a rubber buttpad on the stock version. The stock's height allows the use of iron sights and red dot optics. Features include five QD attachment points, three holders accommodating a total of six cartridges, and a steel screw with a knob for easier removal. The assembly is sold separately and can be used alongside the Bounty Hunter rail system.

The Bounty Hunter Rail System is manufactured in the United States and comes with a lifetime warranty. The system allows a classic revolver to be paired with modern accessories while retaining its basic design and the ability to return it to its original factory configuration.
