Osight makes its debut in the rifle red dot sight market

Osight has introduced a new rifle red dot sight, the Osight R. It is the brand's first model designed for long guns, expanding a product lineup that has so far focused primarily on pistol optics. The new design features an enclosed emitter, a Multi-Reticle System (MRS), and a Micro T1/T2 mounting interface. The optic is intended for sporting, training, hunting, and tactical applications.

The Osight R features a 1× optical system and a rectangular viewing window measuring 28 × 22 mm. Its enclosed emitter protects the system from water, dust, and other contaminants that could interfere with reticle projection. The optical surfaces feature multilayer coatings designed to improve light transmission and reduce unwanted reflections. The MRS allows users to select one of three red reticle configurations: a 2 MOA dot, a 65 MOA circle, or a combination of both. The light source is an LED emitting light at a wavelength of 650 nm. According to the manufacturer, the optic is parallax-free and offers unlimited eye relief, making it easier to aim from a variety of shooting positions.

The optic offers nine brightness settings for daylight use and three additional settings designed for use with night vision devices. A dedicated NV button provides direct access to the night vision settings without requiring users to cycle through the entire range of daylight brightness levels. Both modes independently remember the last selected brightness setting, eliminating the need to readjust the illumination when switching between them. The optic also incorporates Motion Activation Technology (MAT), which uses a motion sensor to manage power consumption. After three minutes of inactivity, the device automatically enters standby mode, and detected movement reactivates the reticle illumination. The feature can be disabled, leaving power management under the user's control.

The optic is powered by a CR2032 battery housed in a side-loading compartment secured by two screws, allowing battery replacement without removing the sight. The manufacturer claims a maximum runtime of 83,000 hours when using the 2 MOA dot at brightness level five. When displaying only the 65 MOA circle, runtime drops to 18,000 hours, while using the dot and circle simultaneously reduces it to 15,000 hours. The optic also features a low-battery indicator. When the supply voltage falls below 2.2 V, the reticle flashes three times every minute.

The Osight R housing is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum. According to the manufacturer, the optic carries an IPX8 waterproof rating and can withstand acceleration forces of up to 1,000 g. The Osight R is equipped with two transparent, flip-up lens covers made from glass-fiber-reinforced polyamide. These protect the optical surfaces from dirt, scratches, and mechanical damage while allowing the optic to be used without opening the covers. The front cover can be replaced with the included Anti-Reflective Device (ARD), which uses a honeycomb structure to reduce reflections from the front lens. The ARD can also be flipped out of the way without having to remove it.

The optic uses the Micro T1/T2 mounting interface, making it compatible with a wide range of mounts conforming to this standard. The manufacturer offers three optical centerline heights above the mounting rail: 1.21 inches, 1.535 inches, and 1.93 inches. The standard package includes the ORS-153 mount, with a height of 1.535 inches, providing a lower 1/3 co-witness configuration. Other mounting options are available separately. The reticle can be adjusted for windage and elevation, with each click corresponding to 0.5 MOA. The total adjustment range is ±50 MOA on each axis.

The Osight R measures 69 mm in length, 36 mm in width, and 64 mm in height. The device weighs 190 g, including the standard mount and battery. It can operate at temperatures ranging from −30°C to +60°C, while its storage temperature range is −40°C to +70°C. The standard package includes the optic with a CR2032 battery, an ORS-153 mount, two lens covers, an ARD, a set of mounting screws, an adjustment tool, a cleaning cloth, and the manufacturer's documentation. The model is covered by a lifetime warranty, subject to the terms and conditions specified by Osight.
