Mustang ha been equipped with a 16-inch barrel with the 5R twist rate, 5.56 NATO nickel-teflon coated chamber and a nitrided gas tube. The gas port has been placed in the mid-length position. The barrel ends with the MuzzLock flash hider developed by Faxon.
The upper and lower receiver were made of forgings 7075-T6 alloy. The upper receiver has a bolt carrier compatible with a trigger mechanisms that has a automatic fire setting. The receiver is finished first by nitriding and then by Faxon Superfinish coating reducing friction.
Other features include a 15-inch aircraft handguard made of aircraft grade aluminum with M-Lok mounting ports positioned in seven planes and a top Picatinny rail that extends the one found on top of the upper receiver.
The lower receiver is equipped with a Hiperfire EDTDM single-stage trigger mechanism. In addition, the Mustang received double-sided manipulators in the form of the Radian Talon 45/90 degree safety/selector switch and the Radian Raptor charging handle. The MOE pistol grip and the MOE-SL Stock were provided by Magpul. The weight is just over 2.7 kg.
