Proof Research combined a light, titanium chamber with a barrel in a carbon fiber sleeve and a stock made of the same material. The base weight of the Conviction Ti therefore weighs only 2.9 kg. In addition, the new precision rifle is guaranteed by Proof Research to have a bullet spread of less than 0.5 MOA, or approximately 1.5 cm at a distance of 100 m. Its ergonomic design includes an adjustable stock, cheek pad, an almost vertical pistol grip, low-profile carrying sling swivel mounts, an integral optics base and a wider handguard with the EFR mounting system. In addition, Conviction Ti is available with a right- or left-handed bolt handle, the TriggerTech trigger and the Pachmayr butt plate. By using the Extreme-Accuracy handguard mounting technique, the Conviction Ti rifle is also supposed to gain in precision.
The Conviction Ti is meant for hunters and the military for whom base weight is an important factor when carrying a fully equipped rifle, a packed backpack and other accessories. Even equipped with a scope, a silencer and a bipod, the Conviction Ti rifle weighs an average of less than 6 kilograms, which is half the weight of traditional tactical rifles with similar capabilities.
PROOF Research composite barrels with high carbon fiber content are well known in the precision shooter community for their exceptional accuracy and low weight. It is the carbon fiber that gives them high stiffness while reducing weight. The new Proof Research model starts at 8,499 USD. For an additional amount of 200 USD, the rifle can be repainted in 8 patterns, from solid colors, through camouflages, to... pink.
The Conviction T1 comes in 10 different calibers, ranging from the traditional .308 Winchester, through the increasingly popular 6.5mm Creedmoor, to the more exotic 7 mm Remington or .28 Nosler. Depending on the selected option, the barrel length varies from 22 to 28 inches, and the twist rate is also different - from 7 to 10 inches. An muzzle device may be included in the kit for an additional fee. The titanium chamber itself is also available in 5 colors.
