The SIG Sauer Cross is intended for hunters, but it will also work well for sports precision shooting and other applications for this type of weapon. Developed in New Hampshire, the rifle features a stainless steel barrel surrounded by a handguard covered with M-Lok standard slots. The handguard is connected directly to the chamber and does not touch the barrel, which has a great impact on the precision of the entire design.
The mounting sockets on the handguard allow the attachment of thermal and night vision devices, and those on the other seven sides allow for trouble-free installation of a bipod or a laser sight. An interesting solution is the safety switch taken directly from the AR-15 and ergonomically placed under the thumb on both sides of the grip. The pistol grip is also compatible with those used in the AR-15, so the user can choose the one he knows from his other rifles.
The Cross received a precise, adjustable two-stop trigger mechanism. The rifle is feed from AICS standard magazines. The stock is foldable to the right side of the rifle and offers an adjustable butt plate and cheek pad. The rifle is available in calibers .308 Winchester, 6.5 mm Creedmoor calibers, in versions with an 18-inch barrel, and a variant in the new .277 SIG Fury caliber is available with a barrel that is 2 inches shorter. The muzzle ends with a thread with a lock nut, so it is up to the owner to choose the right muzzle device or a silencer (or both). The whole design is not overcomplicated and seems to be made for maximum use with minimum weight, without inclusion of expensive materials such as carbon fiber. It weights below 3 kilograms and the price is around 1700-1800 USD.
