Not so long ago, we presented a review of the line of equipment in the MAPA camouflage, offered by a Polish manufacturer of military equipment, Maskopl, and now we will show some new items. The newest products in the above-mentioned Polish camouflage are the TMP-02 plate carrier with a very interesting mini backpack.
You can see that the designers decided to go in a slightly different direction than in the case of the TM-01 vest, slightly slimming the design and adjusting it to global trends. The first thing that catches the eye are the shoulder straps attachments of the vest, which resemble those found in the JPC career plate by Crye Precision (characteristic triangular cuts), although these are not made of hypalon but of Cordura 770, just like the whole vest. The front plate cover also looks interesting, with a zipped administration panel/pocket (similar can be found, among others, in Ferro Concepts or Direct Action products). Under the panel there is a flap with MOLLE straps, but it is not known whether it is attached. There are also four rows of Velcro on the chest and loops on the sides made probably for camelback tubes or radio wires. The Cummerbund is attached on both sides with ROC 80 buckles, and on the left shoulder there is an additional ROC 40 buckle that allows the vest to be removed quickly. Could it be a change in relation to the TM-01 postulated in our review? There is also a mysterious mention of "exchangeable cummerbunds" in the description on the website. Whether we can expect other models of this part of the vest, it is not known yet, but it would be logical to follow global trends.
The shoulder straps, clearly padded with sponge and wide Velcro loops for intertwining tubes or wires, also look good. The rear plate cover looks very interesting and modern. It is equipped with zippers (as in the Crye JPC 2.0, Crye AVS or Ferro Concepts FCPC), that allow for quick attachment of a modular mini backpack (see below) and probably other types of panels (not available yet). The rear cover also has several rows of Velcro, including one at the bottom. They are used for attaching patches and, above all, for mounting the above-mentioned backpack and, perhaps one day, panels.
The TMP-02 vest has the ability to carry hard ballistic inserts of the SAPI type in sizes S, M and L. Thanks to the use of "elevating" sheathing in the middle 250x300mm plates also fit stably inside the new plate carrier.
The new backpack available with the TMP-02 vest has one compartment and one outer pocket.
An interesting fact is that it opens like individual first aid kits, i.e. in a way that ensures perfect access to its contents - just like in medical backpacks. Inside there are no compartments or organizers, only two D rings and an elastic shock cord with a stopper.
The pockets are closed with splash-proof zippers, and on the outside there are two Velcro panels. The backpack is mounted to the vest using the above-mentioned zippers and additionally with the molle/pals system and Velcro panels.
Photos of the backpack's design seem to confirm that at the moment it cannot be mounted with an additional harness, as a separate carrying platform.
In our subjective opinion, the new TMP-02 vest is a decisive step forward compared to its predecessor, an otherwise nice TM-01 vest. Perhaps someday we will have a chance to take a closer look at this product. If this happens, we will surely to inform You about it.
