On May 13, we visited the Delta Long Range Weekend (May 13-14, 2023), which again took place at the extensive shooting range of the Military Institute of Armament Technology (WITU) training ground in Zielonka near Warsaw.

The Delta Optical company has been present at most of the more important events in the shooting industry for a long time, promoting a wide range of optics they manufacture. The day before arriving at the DLRW, we visited their booth during the Militaria Pro ARMA fair in Lublin. The manufacturer's offer includes binoculars, spotting scopes, rifle scopes, reflex sights, but also thermal imagers and night vision devices, which it sells as a representative of other companies. Delta Optical offers optics at almost any price segment and even the high-end ones are usually at an affordable price compared to the competition. This year's long-awaited new products are the Delta Stryker 1-10×28 FFP and the 3.5-21x44 FFP scopes which, thanks to their quality and relatively good price to quality ratio, are very popular. These and other scopes could be seen and tested during the workshops held in Zielonka in May.

The Delta Long Range Weekend was held for the third time (take a look how it looked like a year ago) and the purpose of the event is to integrate the shooting community, with an emphasis on medium and long-range shooters, but also to promote this form of shooting among beginners who showed up in greater numbers this time around. It is also a great opportunity to test and develop one's skills in shooting at longer ranges which, depending on the part of Poland you live in, can be a problem even at a distance above 100m.

Have a look at our video:
Gongs of various sizes were set up at a distance between 100 meters and 1200 meters, but if necessary, it was possible to increase it, and we know that one of the participants took advantage of this possibility. In the part reserved for .22 LR rimfire ammunition, the targets (often very small) were placed at a distance of up to 300 meters. The day's weather conditions, with a wind of about 5 m/s, were quite demanding, especially for weaker ammunition. Generally, however, the weather was good and despite gusts of wind that forced the organizers to fold the tents providing shade for shooters, the event took place in sunny weather.

At the beginning the most crowded ranges were the ones meant for zeroing the scopes and measuring the initial velocity of the ammunition brought by the participants. The organizers prepared Mid-range, PRS (Precision Rifle Series - PRS - a shooting discipline under the supervision of PZSS) and long distance ranges. The excellent instructor team invited by Delta Optical to the event included:
Przemysław WÓJTOWICZ, Justyn ŁYŻWA and Robert KOWALEWSKI who took care of novice shooters.
Michał PIECHOTA and Piotr MORACZYŃSKI who took care of the .22lr. ranges (zeroing, setting 100-300m, rapid shooting).
Dariusz GRZYBOWSKI who ran a medium distance range and helped with ballistic settings.
Tomasz KORPUSIŃSKI who taught how to work with the wind and make corrections through the reticle.
Mariusz SZYDŁOWSKI, Andrzej "ANDY" FOLHOC, Damian BARTOSIK, Jarosław ZYDROŃ, Olaf KURP who helped with the PRS.

Once again, a helpful attitude of the clearly engaged instructors contributed to a very good atmosphere during the event. Those willing could get the autograph of Przemysław Wójtowicz, the author of the "The Sniper Enters First" book, which we also got. During the workshop, it was also possible to use a field gunsmith services provided by the Top Gun company from Warsaw.

The following companies also presented their offer: the Semper Fi gun shop - a manufacturer of "cosmetics" for guns, Generał Nano Protection from Krakow, the Ulfhednar Polska shop with shooting accessories dedicated for long range shooting, the manufacturer of METS interactive targets, BC Arms - a manufacturer of ballistic plates, and also Hrdy - a manufacturer of backpacksa and clothing and the Bullet Prove company. General Arkadiusz Szkutnik, commander of the 18th Mechanized Division, took the honorary patronage over the workshop.
We would like to thank Delta Optical for the invitation and opportunity to take part in the Delta Long Range Weekend workshops, again.
