In the Polish Parliament, work is slowly progressing on a new act regulating the creation of shooting ranges at universities. It is difficult to understand what was behind the idea of creating such a law that no one really needs. Apart from military ones, few universities and schools have their own shooting ranges and very few are interested in creating them. The shooting range for a university is costly, problematic, risky and contributes nothing or almost nothing to the matter of teaching students.
Even universities (military or sport ones) that already have such facilities are willing to lease them to other entities, taking a heavy burden off their shoulders.
Such an act, written sensibly and prudently, would be useful if it concerned the creation of all shooting ranges. Finally, it would clearly regulated what a shooting range must be equipped with and what it not required. This would make it easier for the prospective owners of such facilities to open them and it would limit the possibilities of hindering the creation of shooting ranges or delaying their opening by reluctant representatives of local government authorities.
