Anyone who has ever started putting together their EDC set has quickly learned that over time it also becomes an everyday state of mind, where the problem can be maintaining a balance between what we really need and the desire to be ready for anything. Carrying at least a folder-type knife or a multitool seems rather natural in our “tactical” circles, but you could probably write a solid thesis about the possible contents of a typical fanny pack. This is also reflected in the market, which is full of various tools and gadgets. Recently, in Poland, the Allegro platform has featured tool accessories from the Taiwanese manufacturer 711L that are worth more attention.
We had the pleasure of testing three types of tools from the 711L range before they went on sale. We got our hands on two ratchet wrenches with a fixed and tilting head in a version compatible with the Leatherman multitool standard: 711L Flat End Flex Head EDC Ratchet Wrench and 711L Flat End EDC Ratchet Wrench. The adapter can therefore be mounted in both a standard bit socket and the Flat Bit known from Leatherman multitools.
The head accepts standard hex and flat bits, so these are universal wrenches. Similarly to standard-sized wrenches, 711L ratchets have a switch that determines the direction of work. The ratchet itself has 60 teeth, which is decent, even for normal-sized wrenches, and allows to work even in very limited space for the tool's range of movement. For harder-to-reach places, a ratchet with a tilting head that locks in the range of 180 degrees is recommended. This model has also been designed to maintain full functionality with the Leatherman Skeletool multitool when folded.
The keys are made of stainless steel and the manufacturer wittingly assures about their durability, writing that the product is not intended for heavy work, due to the possibility of damaging ... the multitool (bit socket). The products are offered with a 3-year global warranty. The model with a fixed head weighs 17g, and the one with the tilting head 28g, which is very little.
The ratchets are made extremely well, and the precise click during operation is very pleasant to the ear. It is worth noting that, unlike hex bits, flat bits do not snap into the socket.
We also received the 711L Lollipop Bit Driver for testing, i.e. a screwdriver/wrench for bits (including flat LM ones) with a permanent magnetic socket. The set includes a classic Philips bit. The magnet used is quite strong, which ensures comfort of work without fear of losing a bit. The name of the tool comes from the shape of this wrench, resembling a lollipop. Despite the initial skepticism resulting from having bit wrenches already in my shooting range toolbox, the "lollipop" unexpectedly dominated its competition in terms of frequency of use. Although small, it is handy thanks to the extendable and tiltable arm. This ensures a secure grip and pressure during work. In combination with the above-mentioned ratchets, the "lollipop" is a harmonious duo.
711L tools are available at the Allegro platform on the BOKE_pl profile, run by the Krakow KHAKI store located at Rynek Główny 7 (in the annex).
