The social initiative of firearm owners to introduce an electronic form of firearms owner's ID to the popular Polish application mObywatel (Polish mObywatel app still without a gun owner's ID) was assesed negatively by the management bodies last year.
However, this initiative has also reached others, including the social Inicjatywa ZnajdyMY. The project, led by Rafał Brzoska, the creator of the InPost brand, leads to reducing the number of regulations and simplifying many procedures in Poland. The last package presented at the end of April included a proposal to place a certificate for the purchase of a firearm in the mObywatel application to make it easier for owners and to tighten the Weapons Registration System. This is definitely the first step in the right direction, as evidenced by other proposals such as regulating the legal status of silencers for all shooters, commercial use of military shooting ranges and related infrastructure, or enabling the possession of licensed personal protective equipment such as helmets, vests and ballistic shields of the same protection class as those possessed by law enforcement or the military.
You can vote for the above ideas at the Inicjatywysprawdzamy website, and we will continue to monitor the proposed changes and inform you on an ongoing basis.
