For Fabrique Nationale de Herstal, 2026 has started with quite a large number of new releases. The long-awaited refresh of the SCAR carbine line has finally arrived (which we covered in this article: New generation of the SCAR rifle family has been presented), new FN 309 pistols have appeared (FN 309 MRD pistol has been presented), and now an innovation in the optics category has been introduced in the form of a miniaturized holographic sight designed for mounting on handguns.

The FN PureView sight is based on holographic reticle projection technology (in this case, only a variant with a classic 3 MOA dot has been presented), first introduced exactly 30 years ago in 1996. The most well-known examples of sights using this technology are products from Eotech. However, the new offering from FN Herstal takes the opposite approach, focusing entirely on maximum miniaturization in the form of a closed-emitter optic measuring 46x30x33 mm and weighing only 44 grams with a CR2032 battery.

The key element enabling this miniaturization is the proprietary Image Guide projection technology, consisting of two glass elements with a structure of thousands of patterns applied at the nanometer scale (created using the same technology as microprocessors). Combined with laser projection of the reticle, this ensures an exceptionally clean and distortion-free image.

The reticle itself offers 14 brightness settings, including 3 three for use with night vision, 3 very bright ones, and 8 intermediate has been. All controls are operated via buttons located on the left side of the sight. Technologically, the sight features motion-activated wake-up and automatic sleep after 10 minutes of inactivity, extending continuous operation on a single battery from 800 hours to up to one year (depending on usage intensity). An additional ambient light sensor located at the front allows automatic brightness adjustment to match current conditions.

The FN PureView sight uses the Delta Point Pro mounting standard with some modifications (involving the removal of the rear lugs). In the near future, mounting plates and adapters dedicated to other shooting platforms are expected to be released. Moreover, despite its first presentation at the American NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Houston, Texas, the product is manufactured in Finland at Noptel Oy facilities, with the majority of components being European, making it a strictly European product.
