Last year, the civilian version of the M17 semi-automatic pistol, which replaced the Beretta M9 in the holsters of American soldiers, hit the stores. The SIG Sauer P320-M17 is a faithful replica of the military model, differing from it only by the color of the manipulators (black instead of sand) and the ability to independently remove the trigger assembly.

Currently, SIG Sauer started offering its smaller version, the P320-M18. This is the M17 variant with a shortened barrel and slide, which in turn is the equivalent of the P320 Duty. The M18 has been adopted by the United States Marine Corps (US Marine Corps, USMC) a long time ago.

The SIG Sauer M17/M18 is the result of the Modular Handgun System program, which delivered the successor to the well-worn Beretta M9 pistol, which in turn replaced the M1911 semi-automatic pistol. During the competition, German designs defeated, among others, those by Glock, Beretta, CZ, FNH, S&W or even the Swiss Sphinx.

To sum it up, the P320-M18 is a compact version of the P320-M17, feed from 17 round magazines and chambered for the 9x19 mm ammunition. The slide has sights with tritium inserts to facilitate aiming in conditions of limited lighting. The rear sight is attached to the cover protecting a mount socket intended for a microcollimator.

Unlike the standard P320, the replica of a military weapon is made in the TAN/FDE color (frame/slide) and equipped with an safety switch, which all the armed forces of the world seem crazy about. The slide release, like the safety switch, are placed on both sides of the weapon. The magazine release button can be moved from left to right - for left-handed shooters. The set includes one 17 round magazine with a flat floor plate and an extended one for 21 rounds.
