According to the Operational Center of the Ministry of National Defense, Poland made the initial payment for multi-purpose aircraft of the 5th generation, the F-35A Lightning II, purchased under the Harpia program. The details of the further schedule of activities and the amount paid are confidential. The entire budget planned for F-35A in 2020 is about 1,952 billion PLN (about 427,5 million EUR), which is about 11 percent of the total contract value.

The Ministry of National Defense signed the contract for F-35 on January 31, 2020. The contract is worth 4.6 billion USD, plus VAT. At the time when the contract was signed, the price of 32 aircraft with accompanying packages was, including tax, about 20.7 billion PLN (about 4,379 billion EUR). This means that by the end of this year, our country will pay the said 11 percent of this amount. Later, however, every 12 months another 10 percent is to be paid until 2030.
