Frank DeSomma, an aviation engineer by profession, has died in a tragic accident. In 2002 he founded the Patriot Ordnance Factory. Over the past 18 years, the company has been thriving and its premium products have regularly won awards from magazines such as Shooting Illustrated and American Rifleman.
POF USA is known for producing high quality small arms based on the AR-15 design and models based on the gas piston principle are particularly appreciated. During his activity, DeSomma introduced a number of innovations to the classic American design, such as the E2 chamber with rifling that supports extraction of a casing, or the bearing-operated bolt carrier.
