SIG Sauer has launched the P365 SAS back in 2019, combining their super popular compact 9 mm with the SIG Anti-Snag FT Bullseye sight. Now the same technology is used in the P938 SAS and SIG says the new "The P938 SAS Micro-Compact has undergone a radical dehorning process resulting in an ultra smooth, snag free profile that's ideal for concealed carry."

The P938 SAS is a micro compact with a hammer and single-action trigger mechanism. Like every pistol of this type, it has a safety lever in the rear upper part of the grip. The grip panels are rubber, with cutouts for fingers, and the bottom has a spur that slightly improves the grip.

Both the P365 and the P938 SAS were deprived of traditional sights in favor of the Israeli SAS Bullseye system (developed by Meprolight) built into the slide. They have a form of a glowing circle and a dot that must be placed in its center to aim properly. This system is supposed to be accurate up to a distance of about 10 meters and in theory that's enough as we are talking about self-defense pistols and not target shooting.

Compared to the P365 SAS, the new 1911-based pistol does not have a ported barrel to reduce the muzzle climb and has a magazine for 7 instead of 10 rounds of 9x19 mm rounds, but is about 30 grams lighter. For fans of the 1911 and its ergonomics, the P938 may be worth considering. Only one thing is puzzling. For several years I have been wearing a full-size pistol with high iron sights and a lot of protruding elements every day, and somehow I never had any problems drawing it.
