Another development version of the HK416 carbine from Heckler&Koch has hit the civilian market (for now only in the United States). The new products are the civilian variant of the HK416, i.e. the MR in 5.56x45 mm and 7.62x51 mm calibers, i.e. the MR556 and MR762 models. The rifles are to be available in barrel lengths of 11 and 16.5 inches for the 5.56 mm variant and 16.5 inches for the 7.62 mm variant.
Additionally, the weapon has received new M-LOK handguard with a cutout for better gas block adjustment, ambidextrous manipulators in the form of a magazine release and bolt catch, and a refreshed 45-degree selector/switch. The barrel profile chosen is an intermediate level between the current medium and light variant. In addition, the adjustable gas block has two settings dedicated to shooting with or without silencers and provides the possibility of adjustment. The manufacturer also assured the possibility of replacing the adjusting screw itself with a different size to improve operation. The topic of compatibility with the previous modelA1 was also raised, but as it turns out, these parts will not be able to work together due to changes in the position of the block's mounting pin. Another addition that did not make it to the factory-released configuration is the QD handguard, which due to the additional cost would increase price. Interested parties will still be able to purchase them separately in official stores. It is similar with complete MR556 receiver kits, where it will be possible to order only the kit and mount it on any standard lower receiver, but the lower receiver itself will not be available for sale.
The introduction of new A4 models from December 1 will also officially mean the end of the A1 variant and the beginning of its replacement by newer models.
