The International Defence Industry Fair MSPO in Kielce is also an opportunity to get to know more exotic designs. This time we visited the booth of the Korean SNT Movit company (formerly Daewoo Precision Industries), where we had a closer look at the designs from South Korea. Probably the most characteristic one from this country is the K2 carbine and its derivatives in the form of the modernized K2C variant, which is equipped with a top rail for mounting optics, a tactical handguard, and an adjustable stock.
The modern successor to the iconic K2 rifle is the K13 model, dating from the turn of 2023 and 2024. Originally intended exclusively for special forces, after some changes (the introduction of a forward assist button), it will also be available to other units. The entire system operates on the principle of a short stroke piston and has manipulators, operation, and some parts interchangeable with the AR-15 platform.
The SNT Motiv offer includes not only carbines, but also machine guns from the K15 family chambared in the 5.56x45 mm, the K16 chambered in the 7.62x51 mm, and the K6 HMG chambered in the well-known 12.7x99 mm.
Semi-automatic sniper rifles chambered in the 7.62x51 mm were also on display, in the form of the STSR23 model.
Also interesting was the presence of our own STSM21 submachine gun chambered in 9x19 mm, operating on the basis of a blowback mechanism. The design officially entered production in 2020 and offers a modern and ergonomic design with some features not necessarily typical of submachine guns (free-floating barrel).
Unfortunately, the appearance of these designs should be treated as a curiosity only, as they will not be available for civilian sale.
