This move was made in order to begin rearming Ukrainian National Guard units in line with NATO standards as part of the pursuit of a closer alliance with the West. So far, the name of the unit equipped with a US-based weapon called the UAR-15 has not been given. In recent months, Ukraine has also received a shipment of US military aid worth 60 million USD. Since the outbreak of the conflict in Donbass and the annexation of Crimea, the country has undergone a massive rearmament program and bolstered its defense industry. There were numerous attempts to develop the production capacity of small arms. Examples include the FORT-250 and the M4-WAC-47.
The "UKROP" marking is clearly visible on the weapon, which is an abbreviation of the branch of the Ukrainian state company "Ukroboronprom". As a side note, the UKROP carbines should not be confused with the Ukrainian right-wing nationalist political party of the same name. The UKROP UAR-15 has been presented at many defense fairs since 2018. It seems that its mass production has finally started.
The carbine is modeled after the AR-15/M4 design, with a KeyMod handguard and an enlarged charging handle, strongly inspired by the Radian Raptor product. It is also easy to notice the adjustable Magpul SL stock and a Picatinny rail running along the entire length of the handguard and the upper receiver on which Aimpoint Comp M4 sights are mounted. The iron sights used are the Magpul MBUS Pro or their copies, and the grip is the Magpul MOE. The carrying sling and its front swivel also come from this manufacturer.
The safety/selector has three positions, including the full-auto mode. The UAR-15 can be seen in the photos in equiped with translucent polymer Lancer magazines and a quick-release silencer with a flash hider. The silencer has a durability of 10,000 shots.
