People who followed our website during last year's SHOT Show 2023 may remember one of the most interesting presentations concerning thermal and night vision optics: compact DRS multispectral sights from Holosun. A year has passed since those announcements, and the same manufacturer is upping the ante and revealing its plans for two-module versions intended for mounting on handguns: DPS-TH and DPS -NV.

As one can see, Holosun does not likes to innovate and experiment with its products in various areas of the market.

The DPS-TH is a compact sight with a 28x22 mm lens, combining the features of a red dot sight with the ability to display the image from a separately mounted thermal imaging camera.

The user has the MRS (Multi-Reticle System) function known from other Holosun red dot sights, which allows to select the type of reticle displayed: a circle with a dot (32 & 2 MOA), a circle (32 MOA) or just the dot (2 MOA). Its intensity adjustment includes 8 day modes and 4 modes adapted to work with night vision. It is also possible to use a digitally displayed cross.

A separate camera is responsible for the thermal imaging layer, with a sensor with a resolution of 256x192 px, which transmits and displays the image in the sight with a frequency of 50 Hz on 640x480 pixels screen. No other details about the thermal sensor are known yet, and the manufacturer has not shared information about the type connection between the sight and the camera used. It is known that it will be possible to use different overlay display modes: White Hot, Highlight and Outline. Additionally, to ensure a large field of view and improve the shooter's situational awareness, a wide-angle display option will be available, which reveals the base magnification of the thermal imaging channel: 0.3x.

The DPS-TH is powered by a single, removable 18350 battery (thermal imager) and a LiPo battery (red dot sight), and the set includes a USB magnetic charger.

The second announced model is the DPS-NV, which combines the capabilities of digital night vision with a red dot sight. All features of the red dot sight the same as in the DPS-TH model.

The night vision layer is provided by a camera with a 0.3 MPx matrix and a maximum refresh rate of 60 Hz (the 30 Hz mode can also be used). Like the thermal imaging counterpart, this module is also powered by a replaceable 18350 cell.

The devices are resistant to dust and water in the IP67 standard. Their prices and planned date of release are to be revealed during the soon-to-be SHOT Show 2024 fair.
