The American brand LaRue Tactical is known for a number of quite unique shooting products such as external parts (e.g. a mounting rail for classic AR-15 carry handles – LaRue AccARizer Rail), precision triggers, handguards, and precision firearm designs.

The latest addition to the lineup has now been introduced in the form of a Bolt Action Rifle NONE (abbreviated as BAR NONE). The new design is based on components from the AR-15 (LT-15) and AR-10 (LT-10), including the handguard, lower receiver, a modified upper receiver, magazines, stock, and bolt assembly, resulting in a firearm that closely resembles a classic AR-15 or AR-10. Despite its deceptive appearance, the BAR NONE lacks many key elements of semi-automatic rifles, such as a gas block and regulator, forward assist, or a heavy bolt carrier group (replaced with a modified unit that still uses the same locking principle).

Despite these changes, full AR-15 controls have been retained, including last-round bolt hold-open and the ability to release the bolt in the standard way. Combined with high-quality, precision barrels, the manufacturer claims accuracy below 1 MOA at 100 m, which—given the proposed prices ($999 for the .223 Rem and .300 Blackout variants, and $1299 for the .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor variants)—may make it an interesting option. The rifles are available only in a single barrel length variant: 20 inches for .223 Rem and .300 Blackout, and 24 inches for .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor (which is related to minimum barrel length requirements and allows for sale in all 50 U.S. states).
