Trijicon is one of the market leaders in red dot sights and micro reflex sights. Their products are famous for their reliability and durability, especially in such difficult conditions for the sight as mounting on a slide of the pistol. Since the release of the SRO a few years ago, the market has been eagerly awaiting the release of the next generation of sights, offering features now common in competitors' products.

Features such as top-loaded batteries, variable reticles and a closed design have got their way into the RMR HD and RCR sights.

Trijicon RMR HD
The RMR HD will be very similar in design to the well-known RMR sight. The housing is almost identical. The window in the HD is slightly larger than in the original, but smaller than in the SRO. The HD retains the glass-forward design of the housing.

In addition, there is a reference line on the top of the housing for those who are used to drawing lines with a marker, and a top-loaded battery compartment that no longer requires removing optics to replace batteries. Trijicon claims that the battery (still a CR2032) will power the RMR HD for three years at brightness settings of 5 to 9 at a temperature of 21 degrees C. The new sight model will give the user two additional brightness options, including "super bright" and an additional setting designed to work with night vision gear. It is also possible to lock the brightness setting to prevent accidental movement of the reticle. There are two versions of it available: the 1 MOA dot and the 3.25 MOA dot, and both now have the option to turn on a 55 MOA segmented ring.

An especially interesting is the ability to adjust the "relative brightness", which means that the brightness of the dot and the ring can be set independently of each other, based on the user's preferences.

The HD sight is compatible with the RMR profile, so any plates or slides mounts that were made for the older RMR will fit this sight. Also, the height of the sight line does not change, so if someone is using backup cowitness sights, they won't have to change anything.

Trijicon RCR
For those who prefer closed optics, the RCR provides the same features as the RMR and RMR HD, but in a sealed housing that provides additional protection against impacts and weather conditions. Using a single CR2032 battery, the RCR has a whopping six years of battery life at medium settings at room temperature. It also has 10 individual brightness settings, including three levels for night vision, as well as a super bright mode.

The RCR comes with a 3.25 MOA dot and, perhaps most surprisingly, also uses an RMR plate. The problem in creating closed reflex sights compatible with the RMR shoe has always been the screws, because the screw going down through the housing is a big design difficulty. Trijicon was able to overcome this problem by using special bolts that have holes in the head that allow them to be turned from the side and not from the top.

Both sights use the same polarizing filter that Trijicon is famous for, meaning they still have the same blue tint. But the edge distortion and fisheye effect sometimes seen in older RMRs are noticeably reduced in newer models.

In the US, the RMR HD and RCR are expected to arrive later this year with a suggested retail price of 849 USD, which means that store prices can fall as low as 600 USD. The retail price in Poland is not yet known.
