The combination of red dot sightsights integrated with thermal imaging has recently become a hot topic among optics manufacturers (Strike Industries - Siclops by Hexion Tech, Hybrid sights by Holosun, Thermal imaging and NV: Holosun DPS-TH and DPS-NV), but thermal imaging companies have also become interested in the subject, as exemplified by is a new thermal imaging sight from the InfiTac brand, a branch of the well-known InfiRay, which we widely covered on our portal.
The Pistol Sights Fast Mini FMP13 model offers a rather different approach to this type of sight, where instead of an additional system for the red dot sight, a design based entirely on a thermal imaging camera and display was chosen. The whole thing was placed in a sight similar in size to the popular Aimpoint ACRO (ACRO 47x33x31 mm vs Pistol Sights Fast Mini FMP13 50x38x44 mm).
Inside there is a thermal sensor system with a resolution of 256x192 px (pixel size: 12 μm) with a refresh rate of 50 Hz and thermal sensitivity of <40mK. Together with a f/1.0 13 mm lens, this gives a wide field of view with x0.5 magnification and digital x1 or x2 magnification. On the other hand, we have a touch screen with a feature of quickly changing the mode and the reticle. The screen itself has resolution of 360x300 px and is 1.3 inches accross. The whole thing is powered by CR2 batteries and can be charged via a USB-C socket, which is supposed to guarantee up to 5 hours of operation. Additionally, we have 3 combinations of reticles to choose from: a 6 MOA dot, a combination of a 6 MOA dot and a 65 MOA ring, and a combination of a 6 MOA dot and a 130 MOA ring. In addition, there is the possibility of manual or automatic change of display brightness.
The sight itself is adapted for mounting using many standards (DPP, RMSc, Glock MOS, RMR, Aimpoint Acro, Picantinny and others) thanks to the use of interchangeable mounting plates.
Additionally, a rear sight is cut out on its back for emergency use. The sight's housing is made of 7075-T6 aluminum, and the entire structure meats the IP67 standard, therefore is protected against dust and immersion in water to a depth of 1 m for up to 30 minutes and is also designed to withstand recoil of up to 1200G.
The new Pistol Sights Fast Mini FMP13 from InfiTac is scheduled to go on sale on October 23 and will hit the United States market for 699 USD.
