The submachine gun PP-19-01 Vityaz-SN is a design chambered for the 9x19 Para ammunition and based on the Kalashnikov carbine, created by legendary weapon designer's son, Wiktor, who died in 2018. This Russian equivalent of the MP5 is ergonomically identical to its predecessor, but it is based on a shortened receiver and operated via the blowback, closed bolt system. It has no gas piston based system.
So far, the Vityaz has been equipped with a polymer handguard and a gas tube cover without accessory rails and a side-folding stock from the AKS-74. The modernized version, called the PPK-20 (Pistol-Pulemiot Kalashnikov), was equipped with a handguard with Picatinny rails on the bottom and on its right side. The rail was also factory-attached to the receiver cover. In addition, the submachine gun also received a side-folding AK-EVO polymer stock with six-position length adjustment and QD mounts for carrying sling swivels. The pistol grip comes from the AK-12/RPK-16 machine gun. The muzzle device has been adapted to allow mounting of a silencer.
The PPK-20 was created as part of the "Витязь-МО" program and, according to the manufacturer, has already passed government tests and is ready to be adopted by the army or other uniformed services of the Russian Federation. The set sold, apart from the SMG, will also include a silencer, a bag for magazines and a container with maintenance oil.
